Norton Simon Museum

With a growing number of users accessing on mobile devices and global visitors, the Norton Simon Museum’s website was in need of a user-focused redesign.

The old home page featured a 3-column layout and an overwhelming amount of information that could be organized better. The redesign made considerations for mobile devices, information architecture, and a new generation of web.

Balancing practical user experience and visual appeal, the most accessed links live in an accordion above the fold on the home page, below a slider that takes full advantage of visual assets from the museum.

Extra copy was stripped away to focus on the real star– the works of art. Users can see extra information when hovering over images on desktop and on mobile the default is list view.
